I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there are a lot of Irish people in Chicago.

Contrary to public opinion, based on the fact that my name is Megan and I went to an Irish Catholic university in Boston and I like green beer, I am not in fact Irish.

This does not prevent me from getting into some serious shenanigans over St Patrick’s day weekend.

Since Chicago always hosts its celebrations on the Saturday before St. Pat’s, there were many shenanigans to be had.

Best overheard quote of the day:

Man directing his befuddled family (including children) off the L downtown: “Well…this is Chicago.”

Welcome to Chicago, sir.

Luckily I had a great view of the river- here’s proof that it really does turn BRIGHT green:

With all the craziness that took place this weekend I didn’t get a whole lot of healthy (or photographed) meals in.  But that’s what breakfast is for.

A little bit of this:

on one of these:

and a side of this:

and at least I start out healthy.

It’s all about balance.

After all, it’s not every day that you have a chance to drink beer with all your Irish brethren. ;)

Sláinte!

I AM Irish and I’ve done nothing to participate in St Patty’s…lame me!

I LOVE green beer and St. Patrick’s Day. My mom’s maiden name is Irish-sounding so I like to think it’s in my blood :)

I so could not have lasted with you kids… I was dead after only a short amount of crazy. So sad…

I love that they dye the water green. So festive.

I’m Irish – it definitely makes my week night drinking a touch more acceptable. :)

Haha, tourists always make me laugh. I live within spitting distance of the liberty bell and hearing what parents tell their kids about it is awesome. Lots of people were not paying attention in history class…

I will totally be one of those parents.

How fun that they have special Chi-rish beer cans for the occasion! I’ve never been in Chicago for St. Patty’s, but it’s on my list! Sounds like some good shenanigans.
