The past week has been a whirlwind of moving, sporting events and festivities.
And maybe a few beers. How better to celebrate the birth of our nation, right??
I attended the aforementioned Cubs game on Wednesday.
The seats were great- but we lost. Oh well, it was still a great day! I mean, how bad could it possibly be when there are nachos involved?
Ok, so maybe they’re not “healthy”. Jalapenos count as a vegetable, right? 😉
I was given some lovely gifts from a nice man who happened to be in Italy (he’s also known as my thoughtful boyfriend).
How pretty are they?? I love the stone mortal and pestle! I can’t wait to buy some avocados and make guacamole.
The major development over the past week is that I officially have an apartment again!! (there will be pictures to come once the place is totally decorated) Thanks to my awesome parents and friends, I got all my junk moved in record time. I then proceeded to do some more of this:
When the Bud Light is on special, what’s a girl to do but order one?
And owing to the fact that I didn’t get my butt to the grocery store, I obviously had to order out every meal, right?
Grilled buffalo chicken sammie.
Grilled chicken wrap. Ok, so I like grilled chicken. Did you notice?
I managed to eat some yogurt, fruit and Ezekial bread toast for breakfast most days, though, which I feel pretty darned good about. Gets things rollin’, if you know what I mean.
I headed up to Milwaukee on the 4th for Summerfest. If you live in the midwest and haven’t hit up Summerfest, you need to go next year. I have to hand it to you, Milwaukeeans, you’ve got yourselves one awesome summer festival. I highly appreciate the permanent festival grounds with REAL LIVE bathrooms and many food options. And the fact that I found a tube of sunscreen for only $3 at the fest made my cheapskate consumer side feel nice and respected.
That’s a Lakefront Brewery Wheat Monkey Ale, a local brew. It was lovely. Sara P and I had an awesome time listening to the bands and people-watching (one of my all time favorite passtimes).
Yes, you’re seeing that right. There’s a green man in that photo. The band kept talking to him, referring to him as “hey, green man!” I’m still not sure exactly what was going on, but it was pretty awesome nonetheless.
I also watched a little soccer (when in Rome, right?) and took in some fireworks.
From my friend Sarah S’s awesome rooftop deck.
I wrapped up the weekend with a little beach-going (I didn’t bring my camera because I am clumsy and am 100% sure that I would have gotten sunscreen all over it and/or dropped it in the sand). I’m ready for a little detoxing now! I think some of these are in my near future:
On that note, I’m off to bed to dream of salads and large glasses of water…
