Back To Life, Back To Reality

Why is it that song lyrics speak to me so much?

After the bender (not the Jenn kind 😉 – the eating too much, staying out too late, and drinking things in tiny plastic cups that my liver never needs to see again kind) that constituted this weekend, I’m in need of a little detox.

Although, it was well worth it.  I won’t deny that.

I have to say, though, I hate the word detox.  I’m a firm believer that our bodies are more than capable of detoxifying themselves and to superimpose a strict regimen on them really isn’t necessary for generally healthy people.

Of course, there are exceptions.

But having imbibed one too many raspberry bombs over the weekend (don’t ask, Mom) doesn’t mean I need to overhaul my entire diet and lifestyle.

It’s really just a matter of getting myself back on track.

So I’ll just eat a bunch of these.

And saute some of these,

and make them into my favorite fried rice.  The vegetable to oil ratio was about 6:1 so I feel good about eating something with the word “fried” in the name.

Maybe I’ll just start calling it sauteed rice salad.  It sounds better.

And I feel better already.

I have a feeling she’ll be back in no time.

  1. I too can’t stand the word “detox”. But believe me, after I come back from a marathon of eating out while on vacation, all I want is some green or a carrot.

  2. Don’t call it a detox, the veggies been there all the time.

How’s that for a bastardized song lyric? You’re welcome. 😀

  3. when i come to Chicago, we are totally having *that* kind of weekend. the one where you need to detox after even though you really really really don’t want to have to tell yourself you are actually detoxing.

    rock on sista friend.
