Happy Waiting For Baseball To Start Day!

Well, another Superbowl has come and gone.

Seeing as I’m an obnoxiously overbearing and aggressive Bears fan and am not a gambling kind of lady, I was not all that riveted by last night’s game.

And, though I’ll admit that I wasn’t paying close attention, it seems like the commercials sort of fell flat, too.

But the food?

Ohhh, the food.

I labored over a hot stove for the better part of the day to prep and cook ALL THE FOOD. Mind you, I’m not complaining.  I’m one of those deranged people that actually finds chopping, stirring and roasting relaxing.

I do not, however, find slicing the tip of my finger off relaxing.  Don’t worry, I didn’t require an ER trip.  Nor did I bleed into any of the food, more importantly.

I made baked mac ‘n cheese balls:

Bev’s White Spinach Cheese Dip:

This was incredibly quick and easy- I would absolutely recommend it.  Just make sure to keep it warm, otherwise it’ll congeal as it cools.

Plenty of veggies and crackers with hummus and caramelized onion dip:

Chips, salsa and guacamole (obligatory):

Bacon wrapped dates, stuffed with Boursin cheese:

I actually cut the dates and bacon slices in half to make them bite sized and not quite so gluttonous.  And also so that I can get away with eating 6 (or 15) of them.

Trader Joe’s wings:

And buffalo chicken dip, thanks to my buddy Alison.

Plus, funfetti cupcakes and brownies that appeared later on.  And don’t worry, the spread was pretty well demolished by the end of the game.

And now that football season has officially gone out with a whimper (let’s be honest you guys), I’m ready for spring training to start up.

From buffalo chicken to stadium hot dogs.  Onwards and upwards.

  1. I was down in Atlanta this weekend and was talking about how OMG EXCITED I am to live in a baseball city again! Ballpark hot dogs are the best.

Also, mac and cheese balls? OMG. Recipe?

  2. Well done, my friend. Well done.

And don’t you worry. When you’re not actually at the game, I think we’ll have permanent spots on two particular rooftops in Bucktown that come with grills. Just sayin’…

  3. SO GOOD. Your party > our party. I’ve already told Bobby, so we are set for next year. 😉 Though if the Bears beat the Packers to get to the Super Bowl I may have to protest…just kidding!

Everything looks amazing. I’m going to have to try that White Spinach Cheese Dip pronto!

  4. That’s quite the spread. I was too tired/lazy to make anything. I took some mixed nuts over to my aunt’s and had some carne asada tacos and grilled chicken.

  5. I’m beyond upset that I missed this party!!!! You made quite an impressive spread – as I knew you would! I’m so ready for baseball season, too. I know a guy who can get us some pretty good tickets so we’ll have to make sure we go to a couple of games together! 😉

  6. I wish I liked baseball. I do like going to games though. But watching them on TV is out of my realm of capabilities.
    I want all that food!
