Sunday Fun. Day.

I’ve decided something.

Beer tastes better on Sunday than any other day of the week.

I’m not sure why I feel this way, other than it’s my rebellious “I’m going to go out and have fun instead of doing laundry on a school night” side coming out to play.

Last Sunday (the one that was April Fool’s Day, not Easter), I ventured to a new brewpub in town- Old Town Pour House– with Molly and Amy for some burgers and a few brews.

The Pour House only opened it’s doors a few weeks ago, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, other than I knew it wouldn’t have dive bar prices.

It DID have a huge selection of craft beers, which we all know I can get on board with. Plus, they sort their menu by style of beer, which made my selection much easier to reach since I’m an unabashed IPA lover.

I tried a few new-to-me beers: a Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA and a Smuttynose Finest Kind.  I definitely preferred the Bear Republic, but I’m not enough of a beer snob to be able to tell you why. Went down easy, though, I’ll say that much.

Molly and I also decided to go twinsies and order matching burgers to go with our beers.

Not life changing, but a solid burger.

Clearly that Sunday Funday blew my mind since I, um…haven’t posted anything in a while.  After all, we’ve had a major holiday pass and I didn’t even mention it.

I have been spending lots of time with my family. And trying (unsuccessfully) to catch up on sleep.  It’s all been well and good, but it’s probably time for me to get back in my own kitchen, hmm?

And I guess I should actually get around to doing that laundry. Hmmph.

  1. Now I’m sorta sad I missed out on the food portion of a trip to The Pour House… 😦

Beer is my favorite early on a Saturday afternoon. Mostly because it makes me giddy to what will unfold through the night… weeeee!

  2. I love places like that where the craft beer selection is the main draw. Sounds like a fabulous Sunday.

  3. We totally went twinsies!!! Ha ha. The burger was so-so but the fries – they were life-changing. I would totally go back to the Pour House, if for nothing else than to sit in the “Zoo” window and be gawked at by all the people passing by. 🙂 Oh, and for the beer. There are so many I still want to try.
