New Developments

So, look.

This summer has been not the most eventful one of my life.

I’ve gone to some Cubs games.

I’ve sat in the sun.

I’ve overscheduled myself to the point of distraction.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a fun summer. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying myself.  But I sat down the other day and started to think about whether I’ve done or seen anything new this year.

Well, for one there’s this.

No, not drinking beer. That I’ve had a pretty good handle on.

This is a new brew, though. I went here:

and couldn’t decide what beer to get, so I asked the bartender for any recommendations for an IPA lover.

Apparently, Lagunitas just released a new seasonal, Little Sumpin’ Wild, a variation on their Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’.  It’s pretty hoppy (unsurprisingly) with notes of bubble gum. And yes, that sounds a little disgusting, but I promise that it’s delicious.

Find this one this summer if you can.

On a related note, I’ve decided that all bars need to start serving “short” glasses of beer.

I’ve also noticed that I’ve started to love zucchini this summer.

Specifically in things like these zucchini balls.

I don’t know if it’s just that I figured out how I actually like it prepared, but I’m eating a ton of it this year, whereas in years past I have avoided it like the plague.

I’m ok with this development.

A new beer and a new vegetable.

Phew, I live a CRAZY life.

  1. Meh sometimes the joy of summer is doing nothing at all and loving it 😉 I can’t say that mine has been all that exciting, but it has involved vino, working out outdoors, and eating al fresco!

  2. I wish I liked hoppy beers better, but I really can only drink them with spicy foods. I love zucchini though. I have not eaten enough of it this summer.

  3. So I don’t like beer. But I feel like a beer with notes of bubble gum might actually be amazing.
My summer has been entirely uneventful also. Nothing of any importance has happened. But spring on the other hand, that was all kinds of crazy and amazing. 🙂

  4. Every week I make grand plans (beach in Malibu, hike in Santa Monica Mtns, etc.) and then the weekend comes and I want to lay low… I’ve also been getting more into beer this summer and IPA is my first choice! I’ve been loving Full Sail (not sure if it is a CA beer or available nationwide but it is great!)

  5. Hey now – don’t downplay the discovery of a favorite new beer. Just don’t. Also, how about we plan a little end-of-summer trip to rural Georgia to meet your new bff? I don’t think we could get much more exciting than that.

  6. Aside from taking a fabulous trip, the rest of my summer has been pretty standard. I haven\’t developed a taste for a new vegetable either! So I\’d say you are head of the game here Megan!

  7. Bubble gum? I’m intrigued! I am going to have to pay a visit to the Pour House sometime soon. I think the highlight of my summer has been doing essentially nothing but watch the Olympics every night for the past week and a half. 🙂
