Christmas Party Overload

I’m just one girl.

My alarm goes off very early every morning.  Blame Shaun T.

And December has been doing a number on me.

Not just the abundance of baked goods lurking around every corner (not to mention smack dab in the middle of my own kitchen, which is so unlike me) but the parties!

Oh, the parties.

In the span of two weeks I’ve got about 7 Christmas/holiday parties to attend or back out of.  Some are negotiable, some are not.  That’s what you get for having fourteen careers and an amalgamation of friends from every period of your life in one city.

Not that I’m trying to be Scrooge-y or anything.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good mug of mulled wine and strands of tinsel permanently stuck to the butt of my pants, but this business of party is not to be trifled with.

I’ve been keeping up with my workouts (Insanity month 2 started this week- whoomp), trying to get my booty sleep…err beauty sleep, and trying to politely decline invitations here and there.

But there have also been some of these:

To be fair, I have a cookie exchange at work tomorrow and had to make something.  But I’m not going to sit here and pretend that this is the first time in the last month that I’ve made Mama Pea’s dough balls.   Don’t look at me like that, you know you’ve made them, too.

After all, ’tis the season and I’m going to milk it for all it’s worth.  Mmm, milk.  That would be awesome with these dough balls.

No Rest for the Weary

Ah, the joys of lazy summer days with nothing to do but sit and relax.  Isn’t it great?

Yeah, me too.  I’d love to say that the summer thusfar has been nothing but leisurely al fresco dining and trashy beach reads, but I’d be lying.  Lately things have felt like a whirlwind!
Take for example, my lunch today.

I took a quick break to get a salad from the salad bar at the grocery store and ate it at my desk.

It was a pretty rockin’ salad, though.  I may have gone slightly overboard with the bleu cheese, but- oh, wait, you can never go overboard with the bleu cheese!  ‘Cause it’s amazing!  And makes salad eaten at your desk taste oh so much better. 🙂

I also ate a few chocolate covered edamame from Trader Joe’s.

They kind of remind me of chocolate covered espresso beans (but with soy protein!), and that can’t be bad, right??  I know Katie would agree with me. 😉

This week so far has been so much of a whirlwind that I haven’t even had time to talk about my housewarming party!  It was such a great time and thank you to all of my friends that stopped by!

I made a little spread to feed the people.

Mixed nuts in my cute tasting plate from Crate and Barrel.

Fuzzy chips and salsa and cheese and crackers.  Ok, the actual food wasn’t fuzzy, just my sad little picture of it.

Spicy hummus and pita chips.  I also had a big plate of crudites with lemon dill dip.

And my roommate made lemon cupcakes!

I’d say the party was a success. 🙂

And just to prove how much of a whirlwind this post has been, I’ll leave you with this:

I got a ticket to the Healthy Living Summit today!!  I’m so pumped!

Anyone else reading that’s going?
